There are many reasons to buy contact lenses online. There are all the normal reasons of buying online plus a number of activities that the internet does better. We have listed these in the order of the comments we received in a recent survey:

2. Opticians are sometimes too quick to “prescribe” without going over the many choices. On a good website customers can view all the different products, read reviews and make up their own minds. Opticians are also given incentives by certain brands to promote them so customers are not always offered lenses which are best for them.
   
3. Buying contact lenses online means all your information is stored, making it easier to re-order without any fuss. Many chains are unable to unable to view your data from one shop to another.
   
4. When you need contact lenses, you need contact lenses! This means you want speed of delivery, and you want to be able to place your order 24/7. Good online lens retailers keep high stock levels across the full range, making urgent orders possible. A normal high street optician will have to order almost everything from the manufacturer.
   
5. Many high street and supermarket opticians tie you into contracts on direct debit schemes. Low monthly charges nearly always mask high yearly costs. Be aware of the yearly cost of your lenses and shop around... it will save you £100's a year.
   
6. Many high street opticians like Boots and Specsavers will offer you their own brand of lenses. These are normally cheaper than branded contact lenses and not always as good quality so comfort may be compromised.
   
7. At an online shop you are in control of the process.
   
8. It's so much more convenient. When you buy online there are no travel expenses to a high street, no parking costs, no fighting the crowds and no waiting to see the optician.
